The Graco Magnum X7 is one of the most-used airless sprayers among serious DIY painters and light-duty handymen — and for good reason. The ⅝ HP motor, wheeled cart, and .017" tip capacity give it more reach and power than the X5. But the X7's greater output and heavier use also means its wear parts cycle faster. Most owners don't know what those parts are, what their OEM part numbers are, or — critically — what symptom each failing part produces before it actually dies.
This guide fixes that. Every X7 wear part is listed below with its Graco OEM part number, the symptom it produces when it's failing, how long it typically lasts, and a direct link to order from factory-sealed inventory. By the end of this page, you'll know your X7 better than 95% of its owners.
The Magnum X7 (model 262805) was manufactured across Series A, B, C, and D. Some parts — particularly the pump assembly, motor, and drain valve — differ between series. Your series letter is on the silver serial tag on the machine body, printed after the model number (e.g. "262805C" = Series C).
All parts in this guide note which series they apply to. When unsure, use our X7 parts page or call 713-931-4102 Mon–Fri 8am–4pm CST — we'll confirm the right part for your machine in under two minutes.
The X7 doesn't fail randomly. Components wear in a predictable sequence, driven by how many gallons you've sprayed and what materials you've run through it. Understanding this sequence is the difference between reacting to failures and preventing them.
The X7's embedded piston pump is the same basic architecture as the X5 but driven by a stronger ⅝ HP motor. It handles a .017" max tip, meaning it pushes 15% more paint per minute than the X5 — which also means its pump seals and valves see more throughput per hour of use.
With the machine primed and in SPRAY mode, remove the tip from the gun, pull the trigger fully and hold it — good pump seals stall the motor within 3–5 seconds as pressure builds with no outlet. Release the trigger and count to 15 — good packings hold pressure for 15+ seconds before the motor restarts. If the motor restarts within 5 seconds of trigger release, the pump assembly needs service.
The complete pump rebuild kit for the Magnum X7. Includes the pressure control assembly, outlet valve, inlet valve, drain valve, and push prime kit — everything in one box to restore full pump performance. This is the most important single part for any X7 owner to have on hand. When the 15-second test fails and all individual valves check out, this kit addresses the remaining internal wear. OEM only — aftermarket seals collapse under repeated .017" tip pressure cycles.
Motor replacement for Series D machines. If the X7 powers on, makes no sound, and the pump doesn't move — after confirming the outlet is not blocked — the motor assembly needs replacement. Earlier series (A, B, C) use a different motor; check your serial tag before ordering.

Shop 24Y472Three valves govern paint flow through the X7. Each produces a distinct symptom when it fails — and each is a 15–25 minute field replacement when you have the right OEM kit on hand. The most important diagnostic rule: isolate which valve is causing the problem before ordering. The symptom table below identifies each failure mode.
What it does: The one-way valve at the pump inlet — opens to draw paint in on the downstroke, seals on the upstroke so paint is forced through the hose.
When it fails: Ball sticks to seat (dried paint after storage) or seat becomes pitted and can't seal. Machine sounds normal but draws no paint.
Includes: Inlet housing, ball, spring, and instructions. Always replace ball and seat together.
Shop 17J876What it does: The upper check valve — directs pressurised paint into the hose and prevents backflow into the pump on every intake stroke.
When it fails: Machine primes and draws paint, but pressure at the gun is weak or drops to zero between trigger pulls. Motor cycles constantly at rest.
Accessible via: Easy-access door on the X7 body — no pump removal required for this repair.
Shop 17J880What it does: Routes fluid back to the bucket in PRIME position so the pump builds suction without pressurising the hose. Seals completely in SPRAY.
When it fails: Machine draws paint fine in PRIME — but switching to SPRAY produces no gun pressure because the valve leaks internally, sending paint back to the bucket. Misdiagnosed as pump failure constantly.
Find via DiagramWhat it does: The push prime button mechanically knocks the inlet ball off its seat to free a stuck ball on startup — enabling the fast, reliable priming the X7 is known for.
When it fails: PushPrime button produces no response, or startup takes 30+ seconds of running before prime is achieved. Replace before assuming inlet valve is stuck.
Find via DiagramThe X7's .017" maximum tip size gives it flexibility the X5 doesn't have — you can run a 517 for thicker exterior latex or a 515 for standard interior work without running the pump at its limit. The X7 ships with the SG2 metal spray gun and a RAC X 515 SwitchTip. The gun filter inside the handle needs cleaning every job and replacing every 2–3 jobs in production use.
The tip that makes the X7 worth the upgrade over the X5. Handles exterior latex, thick interior paint, and higher-build materials without straining the pump. The X5 maxes out at .015" — only the X7 can run this tip correctly.
Shop RAC X 517The factory-included tip. Perfect for interior work. Replace when the fan collapses 25% — when a 10" fan measures 7.5" or less at 12" from the surface. Keep a spare in the tool bag for instant swap mid-job.
Shop RAC X 515Complete SG2 metal spray gun in retail packaging — for X7 (262805) Series B, C, D models. Replace when the trigger becomes stiff beyond adjustment, the gun body cracks, or the handle filter housing is damaged.
Find via DiagramSeals the suction tube interface at the pump housing. A cracked or hardened drip cup lets air into the fluid section — producing erratic priming and a sputtering spray pattern that looks exactly like a tip clog but isn't.
Find via DiagramThe X7's cart design gives it parts the X5 doesn't have — a wheeled cart frame, pail hooks, and a cart-specific suction tube configuration. The hose is rated to 100 feet maximum on the X7 (vs 75 ft on the X5) — inspect the full length before every job, especially on long exterior runs where the hose is dragged across concrete.
The X7 operates at 3,000 PSI. A bulging soft spot, cracked jacket, or weeping fitting is a blowout risk — not a patch job. A 25-foot Graco hose replacement costs less than the emergency room visit from a fluid injection injury. Inspect the full hose length before every exterior job. Replace immediately if any damage is found.
Factory-included 25-foot hose. The X7 supports up to 100 feet total — you can add a second 25-foot or 50-foot extension for full exterior reach from a single sprayer position. Replace when jacket cracks or fittings weep.
Find via DiagramThe cart-specific suction tube assembly — note the different part number from the X5 stand model (24V074). The X7's suction tube routes differently due to the cart frame. Always confirm you're ordering the cart version, not the stand version.
Find via DiagramLike the X5, the Magnum X7 uses Pump Armor only — not TSL. TSL (Throat Seal Liquid) is for contractor-class machines with an exposed piston rod. The X7's embedded pump requires Pump Armor run through the system after every job, every time, before storage. This is the most impactful maintenance habit for X7 longevity.
Flush through the pump and hose after every job before storage. Pump Armor prevents corrosion, inhibits freezing, and leaves a protective film on valve balls and seats. Without it, latex residue dries on the inlet ball and causes the won't-prime problem that accounts for the majority of X7 service calls. One 32-oz bottle covers 4–6 storage flushes.
