Essential Graco TC Pro Parts

Genuine OEM replacement parts for the Graco TC Pro — corded, cordless, and PLUS models. Every part ships factory-sealed from Graco's authorized distribution chain.

ProConnect Pump Replacement — 3 Steps, 1 Screwdriver

When the TC Pro's Triax pump wears out, the 17P187 Triax Pump Assembly Replacement Kit drops in via the ProConnect system. No teardown, no special tools — just a single screwdriver:

  • Open the clamshell door (17P235) on the machine body
  • Remove two screws to release the worn Triax pump assembly
  • Slide in the new 17P187 pump assembly and replace the screws
Confirm Your TC Pro Model Before Ordering

The TC Pro family has three models: 17N163 (corded), 17N166 (cordless standard), and 17N223 (TC Pro PLUS — hot solvent compatible). All share the same Triax pump (17P187), front valve (17P174), and FlexLiner bags. Some motor and control components differ by model. Your model number is on the machine label. Not sure? Call 713-931-4102 — we'll confirm in under 2 minutes.

TC Pro Parts — What Fails, What to Order

The TC Pro's Triax pump and FlexLiner system create unique failure modes not seen on any other Graco machine. Match your symptom to the right part before ordering.

TC Pro Tips Are Different — Do Not Use Standard RAC X Tips

The TC Pro uses TC Pro SwitchTips (TCP series) — not standard RAC X tips. The TCP514 (factory included) is a .014" orifice fine-finish tip designed for the TC Pro's 2,000 PSI Triax pump system. Standard RAC X tips (515, 517 etc.) from other Graco machines may physically fit but are not optimised for the TC Pro's lower pressure range and will produce inferior results.

The VacuValve — The TC Pro's Most Overlooked Part

The VacuValve cap (17P712) is the small valve that maintains vacuum in the FlexLiner bag, allowing the TC Pro to spray in any direction — including upside down. When the VacuValve is dirty, worn, or not seated correctly, the machine loses prime during angled spraying. This is almost always misdiagnosed as a pump problem. Before ordering a pump assembly, clean and inspect the VacuValve cap first. If cleaning doesn't restore upside-down spraying performance, replace the cap — it costs a fraction of a pump assembly and solves the problem in 80% of cases.

TC Pro Corded vs Cordless vs PLUS — Which Model Do You Have?

All three share the same pump, valves, and FlexLiner system. The differences are in power source and material compatibility.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Graco TC Pro parts, the Triax pump, and FlexLiner system

What is the Triax pump and how do I replace it?
The Triax Triple Piston Pump is the TC Pro's proprietary pump system — three carbide pistons working in sequence to deliver smooth, consistent pressure at up to 2,000 PSI from a handheld unit. It's unlike any pump on any other Graco machine. When the pump wears out, the 17P187 Triax Pump Assembly Replacement Kit is a drop-in replacement via the ProConnect system: open the clamshell door, remove two screws, slide out the old pump, slide in the new one. Three steps, one screwdriver, under 5 minutes.
What spray tips does the TC Pro use — can I use regular RAC X tips?
The TC Pro uses TC Pro SwitchTips (TCP series) — the factory-included tip is the TCP514 (.014" orifice, 10" fan). TC Pro tips are engineered for the machine's 2,000 PSI Triax pump system. Standard RAC X tips (515, 517 etc.) may physically fit but are not designed for the TC Pro's pressure range. For fine finish applications, the FFLP514 Fine Finish Low Pressure tip also works well on the TC Pro and is designed for the same lower-pressure airless applications.
What is the VacuValve and why does my TC Pro lose prime at an angle?
The VacuValve cap (17P712) maintains the vacuum in the FlexLiner bag that allows the TC Pro to spray in any direction — including inverted. When the VacuValve is dirty, worn, or not seated correctly, the machine loses prime when tilted or held upside down. Before ordering a new pump assembly, clean and inspect the VacuValve cap first — this is the most common cause of angled-spray priming failure and costs a fraction of a pump replacement to fix.
Does the TC Pro need TSL or Pump Armor?
Neither TSL nor Pump Armor is required in the same way as on contractor machines. The TC Pro uses FlexLiner bags — when you finish spraying, remove the bag and rinse the cup. There is no wet cup to fill with TSL and no exposed piston rod. For long-term storage, you can run a small amount of Pump Armor through the fluid path, but it is not the same requirement as on the X5, X7, or 395. The TC Pro's primary maintenance is: clean the cup and tip after every session, inspect the VacuValve cap regularly, and replace FlexLiner bags as needed.
What is the difference between the TC Pro and TC Pro PLUS?
The main difference is material compatibility. The standard TC Pro (17N166 cordless, 17N163 corded) handles water-based coatings only. The TC Pro PLUS (17N223) is hot-solvent compatible — it can spray flammable and solvent-based materials including lacquers, making it the only handheld airless in the lineup that handles those coatings. Both share the same Triax pump (17P187), FlexLiner bags, VacuValve cap, and TCP tips. The motor and control components differ — the PLUS uses the 17P181 SmartControl Brushless kit, and the front valve is 17P175 (not 17P174 as on the standard models).
