The tip determines fan width, flow rate, and finish quality — choose the right one for your material and machine
Every RAC X SwitchTip has a 3-digit number. First digit × 2 = fan width in inches. Last two digits = orifice size in thousandths of an inch. Example: 515 = 10-inch fan, .015" orifice. 517 = 10-inch fan, .017" orifice. 413 = 8-inch fan, .013" orifice. Always check that the tip orifice does not exceed your machine's maximum rated tip size before ordering.
| Tip Code | Fan Width | Orifice | Best Application | Machine Compatibility |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 515 ⭐ | 10" | .015" | Interior walls & ceilings — standard latex | X5 · X7 · ProX17 · All machines |
| 517 | 10" | .017" | Exterior latex, thicker coatings | X7 · ProX17 · Ultra 395+ · NOT X5 |
| 413 | 8" | .013" | Fence stain, trim, doors, narrower surfaces | All Graco machines |
| 311 | 6" | .011" | Spindles, railings, cabinet edges | All Graco machines |
| 521 | 10" | .021" | Heavy coatings, elastomeric, block filler | Ultra 395+ · Ultra Max II 695+ only |
| 529 | 10" | .029" | Elastomeric roof coatings, heavy texture | Ultra Max II 695+ · GMax series only |
| FFLP514 | 10" | .014" | Fine finish — doors, trim, cabinetry at low pressure | All machines · TC Pro · Ultra · Ultimate |
Measure the fan on cardboard at 12 inches from the surface. When the fan has collapsed 25% or more from its rated width — replace it. A 515 tip (rated 10") needs replacing when the fan drops below 7.5". A worn tip forces your pump to work harder, increases paint consumption, and produces inconsistent coverage. Keep at least one spare tip in your kit. Tip life: approximately 30–40 gallons of latex per tip under normal use.
Extend your reach without losing pressure — always stay within your machine's maximum hose rating
| Hose | Length | Diameter | Max Rating | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 247338 | 25 ft | ¼" | 3,000 PSI | Magnum X5, X7, ProX17 — factory hose replacement |
| 247339 | 50 ft | ¼" | 3,000 PSI | Extended reach on any Magnum series machine |
| 248821 | 100 ft | ¼" | 3,000 PSI | Large exterior jobs — X7 and ProX17 (max 100 ft) |
| 244180 (Whip) | 3 ft | ¼" | 3,300 PSI | Gun-end flexibility — reduces hand fatigue all machines |
X5: 75 ft total · X7: 100 ft total · ProX17: 150 ft total · Ultra 395: 100 ft total · Ultra Max II 695: 150 ft total. Exceeding the rated maximum reduces pump life and causes motor overheating. Longer hose also means slight pressure drop at the gun — increase machine pressure slightly when adding hose length.
A 3-foot whip hose connects between the main hose and the spray gun. It absorbs the stiffness of the main hose and allows the gun to move freely — essential for overhead work, tight angles, and any job where you're fighting the hose for more than 30 minutes. Standard on contractor setups, often overlooked by homeowners.
A cracked jacket, soft bulge, or weeping fitting on a 3,000 PSI hose is a replacement situation — not a repair situation. Tape, wraps, and patches hold at ambient pressure and fail at operating pressure. Fluid injection injuries from airless spray at 3,000 PSI look like minor cuts but are surgical emergencies. Replace any damaged hose before the next job.
The spray gun is the interface between your machine and the surface — use the right gun for your machine and application
Factory-included gun on the Magnum X5 and X7. Metal construction, trigger lock safety, handle filter housing. Replace when trigger stiffens beyond adjustment or the housing cracks.
Upgraded gun shipped with the ProX17 and ProX19. Features a built-in hose swivel that prevents kinking and reduces fatigue on long hose runs. Compatible with all Magnum series hoses.
Shipped with the Ultra 395 and Ultra Max II 695. Heavy-duty contractor construction with a 60-mesh in-handle filter. Designed for daily professional production use and compatible with ³⁄₈" hose fittings.
The cheapest fix for tip clogs, pressure drops, and most mid-job problems — replace gun filters every bucket
Before diagnosing any pressure drop or tip clog problem — pull and inspect the gun handle filter first. A filter coated with paint debris restricts flow and produces exactly the same symptoms as a worn pump. Replace it with a fresh filter (under $2). If pressure restores — that was the problem. Keep 10+ gun filters per machine in your supply kit. Replace at every new bucket of paint during production use.
The mesh filter inside the spray gun handle that catches debris before it reaches the tip. Available in 60-mesh (standard) and 100-mesh (fine finish). Replace at every new bucket. Never start a production day without checking this first.
Pour every bucket of paint through a mesh strainer before loading the suction tube. Eliminates the majority of tip clogs before they happen. Available in 60-mesh for most latex and 30-mesh for thicker materials. Cost: approximately $3 each — the best ROI in airless spraying.
Using the wrong fluid in the wrong machine is one of the most common and preventable maintenance mistakes
| Fluid | Used On | How Used | When |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pump Armor (17S980) | Magnum X5 · X7 · ProX17 — embedded pump machines | Run through fluid path via suction tube after every job | After every job before storage — no exceptions |
| TSL Throat Seal Liquid | Ultra 395 · 495 · 595 · Ultra Max II 695 · All machines with exposed piston rod & wet cup | Fill into the wet cup above the fluid section — lubricates throat packings during operation | Check level before every job · Top up at fill line |
| ❌ Pump Armor in TSL wet cup | WRONG — Do not use Pump Armor in a contractor machine's wet cup. Pump Armor is for embedded-pump Magnum machines only. | ||
| ❌ TSL in Magnum X5/X7 | WRONG — The X5 and X7 have no wet cup. TSL has nowhere to go and is not compatible with these machines. Use Pump Armor. | ||
For Magnum X5, X7, ProX17, and all homeowner Magnum series machines with embedded pumps. Run through the pump and hose after every job before storage. Prevents inlet valve balls from bonding to their seats overnight. One 32 oz bottle = 4–6 storage flushes.
For Ultra 395, 495, 595, Ultra Max II 695, and all contractor-class machines with exposed piston rods and wet cups. Fill the wet cup to the fill line before every job. Running the wet cup dry even once accelerates throat packing and rod wear significantly.
Reach higher, spray at any angle, and extend your machine's capabilities without moving the unit
Attaches between the gun and the spray tip to reach high walls and ceilings without a ladder. Available in 12, 24, and 36 inch lengths. Use with a tip extension swivel for angled spraying without wrist strain.
Connects between the extension and the gun to allow the tip to rotate freely for angled spraying. Essential when using a tip extension for overhead work — without it, you're fighting the extension's rigidity on every pass.
The 235486 180° Easy Turn adapter enables spray direction adjustment without repositioning your hand. The 224399 45° adapter reaches tight angles on fences and trim. The 181085 thread adapter converts 11/16" to 7/8" for broader compatibility.
